Are The Florida State Seminoles Back?

Are the Florida State Seminoles back? It’s too early to tell as of now, but if you want to ask are they getting back into the swing of things? I would definitely say yes.
Last year, everybody was clamoring about the Seminoles being back after being ranked sixth in the AP poll at the start of the year. If you ask me that, the hype came one year to soon. I say that because, you need to develop your talent and the Seminoles have done just that. The Seminoles have done very well on the recruiting trail landing the number one recruiting class in 2011, as well as being in the top six since 2009. The Seminoles finally put it together some solid seasons winning 10 games in the 2010-2011 season and winning nine games in the 2011-2012 season.
With that being said the Seminoles are off to a good start being ranked fourth in the country, coming off a big time win at home against the 10th ranked Clemson Tigers this past Saturday. The Seminoles have the talent to run the table and possibly play in the BCS National Championship Game. The Seminoles struggle with consistency, the first real test for the Seminoles will be this Saturday when they travel to Tampa to face South Florida. The Seminoles need to avoid the letdown that most teams face after coming off an emotional win. If the Seminoles handle South Florida then I will say they are on the road to being officially back.
If you’re a Seminoles fan, there are plenty of reasons to be excited, if the Seminoles take care of business there is no reason they shouldn’t place in the BCS National Championship Game.

Spurrier Struggles - Bryce Hatley

The Vanderbilt Commodores hosted the No. 9 South Carolina Gamecocks last night in a Thursday night SEC showdown.
With the return of Heisman hopeful Marcus Lattimore and the reigning SEC Freshman of the Year Jadeveon Clowney at Defensive End South Carolina was sure to steamroll the Commodores for the easy victory.  Marcus Lattimore was back on the field to carry the Gamecocks to victory scoring South Carolinas only two touchdowns for the night. Lattimore rushed for 110 yards on 23 carries for 2 TDs averaging 4.8 yards a carry; he also had three receptions for 21 yards accounting for almost half of Carolina’s total yards. Lattimore showed promising signs of what is yet to come if he can stay healthy. South Carolinas quarterback struggles continued as Connor Shaw completed 7 of 11 passes totaling only 67 yards and throwing one interception and racked up 92 yards rushing.  Shaw’s Thursday night’s performance did not show the likes of a SEC caliber quarterback. Granted Shaw went down in the first half with shoulder injury that doesn’t excuse his 67 yard 1 interception passing performance against a decent Vanderbilt defense. With nonexistent a pass game the Gamecocks looked offensively stagnant giving most of the load to Lattimore. The Gamecock front seven on defense had a good outing while the Gamecock secondary remains in question in a controversial pass interference no call late in the fourth quarter. Conversely Vanderbilt showed signs of improvement holding the Gamecocks to only 17 points.  The Commodores rallied behind Quarterback Jordan Rodgers who threw for more than 200 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 pick to keep the game competitive all the way down to the wire.
The season opener is in the books for the Gamecocks but an overall progression is needed to compete for an SEC title let alone National Championship.
